When A Gust Of Wind Hit This Tarmac, Something Ridiculous Happened…

Have you ever heard of a microburst? No? Well, you’re definitely not alone.

Unlike tornados, microbursts are gusts of wind that move downward. While their counterparts lift things up, microbursts push things down, out, and away.

To give you an idea, here’s an illustration of what a microburst does.

Kinda crazy, right?

Well, it’s even wilder when you see it in real life. Check out what this air traffic controller caught on camera during a microburst on a tarmac.

While I’m not totally sure if those planes had anyone inside, I’m also not confident that would have helped.

The winds are often so strong during microbursts — upwards of 170 miles per hour — that pilots have no control over their own aircraft. Here’s hoping the planes landed somewhere without injuring anyone in the process!

Cheesy Mashed Potato Spring Rolls Are The Best Snack Ever

If I had to choose a favorite side, anything with potatoes would probably be it. But if you forced me to narrow it down further, it’d be a tie between french fries and mashed potatoes.

On the one hand, mashed potatoes are so smooth, but I love that fries are crunchy and super salty. But what happens when you combine my favorite aspects of both…and throw in some cheese and bacon? Well, you get this ridiculously tasty recipe for mashed potato spring rolls!

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); });

To make these tasty apps on your own, just follow these easy instructions.

  • 2 cups of mashed potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of crumbled bacon
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • Sliced cheddar cheese
  • Package of wonton wrappers
  • Bowl of water
  • Oil for frying
  • Sour cream

  1. Combine the potatoes, egg, bacon, green onions, parsley, garlic powder, and onion powder and mix.
  2. Take one wonton wrapper, put a dollop of the potato mix in the center and top with a slice of cheese.
  3. Wrap the wonton like a burrito or spring roll, dab your finger in the water and use it like a glue to seal the edges together. Repeat with all the wrappers and mixture.
  4. Fry in cooking oil for four minutes and serve with sour cream!

She Weighed Just Half A Pound When They Found Her…But These Vets Saved Her Life

There’s a reason that puppies aren’t fully weaned from their mother until they’re between seven and eight weeks old. In addition to the emotional support, they need mom’s nutritious milk and warmth to help them survive. Unfortunately though, stray dogs and orphaned pups often find themselves without a mom, making their odds of survival incredibly slim.

That’s just what happened to Lily when she was brought in to the San Jose Animal Care Center.

A Good Samaritan found Lily alone and barely alive. They spent two days trying to help her recover by feeding her milk…

But when Lily’s condition worsened, they brought her into the San Jose Animal Care Center.

Vet clinic staffers weren’t sure the tiny puppy — who weighed just 0.5 pounds — would survive 30 minutes, let alone the next few days.

While they looked for a rescue to take her in, they got to work. They gave her fluids through a catheter, provided heat support, and began feeding her through a syringe.

Naturally, she was exhausted.

Watch as a veterinarian feeds the tiny tyke.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Sometimes we drop everything and do amazing things to save lives.Today a dying puppy (weighing 0.5 lbs.) came in to the shelter. She had low blood sugar levels, was hypothermic and dehydrated. She was barely responsive. Fortunately, our shelter’s amazing veterinary team pulled together an amazing effort to bring this girl back to life! We placed a catheter into her femur so that we could give her life-saving fluids and sugars. With that along with heat support, we got her eating from syringes and feeling so much better!The best news is that she has been rescued thanks to Fred’s Friends and has a veterinary nurse fostering her to ensure she continues to recover!FULL STORY: http://www.tailsofasheltervet.com/2016/03/06/two-days-after-found-in-park-tiny-dying-puppy-brought-to-shelter/

After a few hours, Lily was in much better shape. The clinic had also found a veterinarian nurse who would foster her!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Tiny Lily is doing SO much better! She is eating on her own and loves to give kisses.

Now, just over two weeks after the pup came in off death’s doorstep, Lily is playful and gaining her strength!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Yep that's little Lily. She is doing so well now and has recovered! Isn't she adorable???

Dr. Ostermann noted in her blog post about Lily that while the person who found her only had the best of intentions, it’s important to be sure the mom isn’t coming back — and only then should you bring the animal in to the professionals:

“Sometimes good intentions can be more harmful than you would expect. Many people who find kittens or puppies assume that they are orphaned instead of waiting to see whether their mother comes back to them. The babies will do best in their mother’s care, so removing them from their environment before you are sure their mother is not coming back could hinder their chances of surviving. If you are convinced that mother is not returning to her babies and you are not well-versed in caring for orphaned kittens or puppies, please take them to your local veterinarian immediately for guidance.

We’re just glad this story ended with a happy result. Best of luck, Lily!

They Asked 50 People 1 Question…What Would You Change About Your Body?

It’s a staggering number, but more than 90% of women in the U.S. are unhappy with their bodies.

And that feeling isn’t only felt by females…men struggle with body image issues, too.

But these feelings of inadequacy, ugliness, and dissatisfaction with our figures don’t come out of nowhere…so when do they start?

When the Jubilee Project brought 50 people together to ask them one question — if you could change one thing about your body, what would it be — they got some shocking answers. Who gave them, though, will surprise you the most.

Somewhere along the way, we lose that childish spirit that’s so inspiring, joyful, and confident. If there’s one thing we can all learn from this video, it’s that we’re all beautiful…but a mermaid tail would be a fun addition!

You Can Make A Gigantic Area Rug For Under $30…Here’s How!

Finding a cheap and chic area rug is pretty difficult. But when Stephanie of A Scoop of Sherbert saw a friend’s DIY creation, she knew she’d found a solution to this tricky task.

All you need are some carpet squares, creativity, and a roll of carpet seam tape!

First things first, she needed a ton of carpet squares.

Stephanie recommends shopping around at a bunch of carpet stores. They generally will have plenty that you can buy for cheap — she got hers for $1/piece!

Following her friend’s original inspiration, the crafter taped all her pieces together with duct tape…

But when she went to flip the massive carpet over, it didn’t go so well. The failed first attempt didn’t cause her to give up, though.

She started fresh, arranging her squares in a new pattern.

Stephanie says that you may not get all the same color, but keeping with the same texture and carpet type will help it look like a seamless piece.

Instead of duct tape, this time she found a carpet-specific adhesive!

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251602_56eb95e4b79e4”, auid: “537251602” });

You peel off the white film to reveal the sticky side, then use it to bond your carpet squares together.

Instead of flipping all the squares over, she placed them one at a time, right side up, simply sticking one side and then the other in place.

What a great fit!

If you don’t want it to slide around, just put shelf liner under it.

What a cool look! You’d never know this wasn’t from a fancy home store.

What a beautiful result! It just goes to show that with a little trial and error, you can make something so perfect and affordable for your home.

When This Tiny Dachshund Is Allowed On The Bed For The First Time, He LOSES It

It’s no secret that our dogs really love getting up on the bed with us…

But for Pepper the tiny dachshund, he’s not into snuggling, snoozing, or even playing with another pup on the bed. No, the few sacred feet of space that we consider a resting spot is where Pepper gets his daily exercise in.

The second he gets up onto the bed, he absolutely loses all composure — and you know what? We lovehim for it!

“Let’s do laps!”

“Why rest when you can run?!”

Oh, Pepper. We’ll watch you run laps all day long. But I don’t know if you’ll get anyone to join in.

Except for these two devotedly fit corgis.
