He Was Punished By His Owner In The Cruelest, Most Insane Way…Your Heart Will Break

It’s easy to get frustrated with our little animal friends, but even at their worst there’s absolutely no excuse for the amount of pain this poor pup was subjected to. At just six-weeks-old, like many young puppies, he chewed on something he shouldn’t have — his owner’s phone.

Instead of behaving like a rational human being, the cruel owner doused the tiny animal with boiling hot water and tossed him out of the fourth story balcony of his apartment in Chengdu, China. That could have easily been the tragic end of this sad story, but luckily someone came by to offer the kindness this sweet boy so desperately deserved.

Warning: the images of his wounds are extremely graphic.

Yan Yingying found the scalded pup lying on the street and immediately rushed him to a vet.

They did the best they could to stabilize the poor thing, now going by Tuffy, but he needed more help than the local clinic could provide.

So Yingying brought him to the skillful folks at Animals Asia about an hour’s drive outside of Chengdu.

Though the staff members had seen plenty of cases of abuse and trauma cross their path, they had never seen anything this barbaric and heartbreaking.

His body was covered in so many blisters that he couldn’t even close his eyes to sleep.

Slowly, thanks to an amazing team of doctors, Tuffy started to get better.

Injections and grafts from a small portion of skin by his scrotum that was untouched by the water gave the little guy a second chance.

Yingying would frequently visit Tuffy while he recovered, and once he was well enough, she brought him home to stay with her forever.

Large sections of his fur still haven’t grown back, but generous strangers have donated adorable new coats to keep him warm.

Despite all that he’s been through, Tuffy is finally the happy, playful pup he was born to be.

It’s incredible that such a small dog could have so much strength and determination to get well. Thank goodness for the kind humans who outweighed the cruelty of another to give this cutie a second chance at finding trust, love, and happiness.

Visit Animals Asia’s website to make a donation and help them save more lives just like Tuffy.

This Dog Isn’t Convinced That It’s Safe To Come Inside

No one has ever claimed that dogs are the smartest creatures on the planet, but they sure are lovable!

After Sophie’s human took the screen off of their front door, she wasn’t quite sure if it was safe to come inside. Maybe she’s run into the screen too many times or has gotten scolded for scratching holes in it, but either way, she couldn’t wrap her head around the magical rectangle where a barrier used to be.

Watch as Sophie contemplates crossing the threshold. Even the promise of a treat isn’t enough to lure her inside.

This silly pooch was having a similar problem. Luckily, she has a very understanding daddy.

“Mother, you’re trapped! I will save you!”

She Weighed Just Half A Pound When They Found Her…But These Vets Saved Her Life

There’s a reason that puppies aren’t fully weaned from their mother until they’re between seven and eight weeks old. In addition to the emotional support, they need mom’s nutritious milk and warmth to help them survive. Unfortunately though, stray dogs and orphaned pups often find themselves without a mom, making their odds of survival incredibly slim.

That’s just what happened to Lily when she was brought in to the San Jose Animal Care Center.

A Good Samaritan found Lily alone and barely alive. They spent two days trying to help her recover by feeding her milk…

But when Lily’s condition worsened, they brought her into the San Jose Animal Care Center.

Vet clinic staffers weren’t sure the tiny puppy — who weighed just 0.5 pounds — would survive 30 minutes, let alone the next few days.

While they looked for a rescue to take her in, they got to work. They gave her fluids through a catheter, provided heat support, and began feeding her through a syringe.

Naturally, she was exhausted.

Watch as a veterinarian feeds the tiny tyke.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Sometimes we drop everything and do amazing things to save lives.Today a dying puppy (weighing 0.5 lbs.) came in to the shelter. She had low blood sugar levels, was hypothermic and dehydrated. She was barely responsive. Fortunately, our shelter’s amazing veterinary team pulled together an amazing effort to bring this girl back to life! We placed a catheter into her femur so that we could give her life-saving fluids and sugars. With that along with heat support, we got her eating from syringes and feeling so much better! The best news is that she has been rescued thanks to Fred’s Friends and has a veterinary nurse fostering her to ensure she continues to recover!FULL STORY: http://www.tailsofasheltervet.com/2016/03/06/two-days-after-found-in-park-tiny-dying-puppy-brought-to-shelter/

After a few hours, Lily was in much better shape. The clinic had also found a veterinarian nurse who would foster her!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Tiny Lily is doing SO much better! She is eating on her own and loves to give kisses.

Now, just over two weeks after the pup came in off death’s doorstep, Lily is playful and gaining her strength!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Yep that's little Lily. She is doing so well now and has recovered! Isn't she adorable???

Dr. Ostermann noted in her blog post about Lily that while the person who found her only had the best of intentions, it’s important to be sure the mom isn’t coming back — and only then should you bring the animal in to the professionals:

“Sometimes good intentions can be more harmful than you would expect. Many people who find kittens or puppies assume that they are orphaned instead of waiting to see whether their mother comes back to them. The babies will do best in their mother’s care, so removing them from their environment before you are sure their mother is not coming back could hinder their chances of surviving. If you are convinced that mother is not returning to her babies and you are not well-versed in caring for orphaned kittens or puppies, please take them to your local veterinarian immediately for guidance.

We’re just glad this story ended with a happy result. Best of luck, Lily!

She Loved Her Forever Home, But What Happened Will Break Your Heart In Two

Mighty Mutts in Toronto, Canada, provides training for dogs looking to join the canine work force or rehabilitate bad behavior. They also board rescue pups, most saved from death row at other shelters, but the facility has limited space.

This sweet girl named Lana was brought in about a year ago when she was just 10 weeks old. The rough life that led to her ending up in their care made her a bit skittish when meeting new people, but once she warmed up to someone she was content to follow them around anywhere.

They posted these photos of the cutie, hoping to attract a forever home adoption.

Because of her nerves, they wanted to find a home without any small children.

Finally, the happy day arrived when a family came to bring her into their home. They had children, but they hoped over time that Lana would be able to adjust.

Sadly, that never happened. After a year of trying to give her a happy life, the family and folks at Mighty Mutts agreed it would be better for Lana to return to the shelter and find an adults-only home.

Unfortunately, this took a depressing toll on the pup, as can be clearly seen in this heartbreaking photo of her taken a few days ago.

All of Lana’s old fears and anxieties returned in full force. She is so reluctant to leave her cage, only doing so when two specific people are there to coax her out. The crew is working on solving her resurfaced guarding issues and nervousness while they pray for a foster or forever home for the poor girl.

“When she is with people she knows and trusts,” they explain on Facebook, “she is a silly and sweet [girl]. Lana is great left alone, good with other animals (cats/dogs), however, she will exhibit guarding behaviours around food with other animals. She LOVES to go hiking and is […] very good on leash. She also likes car rides…well, she will still fall asleep almost as soon as the car begins to move, just like when she was a tiny pup.”

You can help her find the urgent home she so desperately deserves by sharing her story and donating to the Mighty Mutts to help fund her boarding. Hopefully she won’t be spending too much more time in her sad condition.

When This Tiny Dachshund Is Allowed On The Bed For The First Time, He LOSES It

It’s no secret that our dogs really love getting up on the bed with us…

But for Pepper the tiny dachshund, he’s not into snuggling, snoozing, or even playing with another pup on the bed. No, the few sacred feet of space that we consider a resting spot is where Pepper gets his daily exercise in.

The second he gets up onto the bed, he absolutely loses all composure — and you know what? We lovehim for it!

“Let’s do laps!”

“Why rest when you can run?!”

Oh, Pepper. We’ll watch you run laps all day long. But I don’t know if you’ll get anyone to join in.

Except for these two devotedly fit corgis.
