This Incredible Paralympics Ad Proves A Powerful Point About Being A Real-Life Hero

While olympians in general are absolutely incredible, paralympians are particularly inspiring.

Not only do they have to qualify, but they must do so with what most people see as physical limitations. That being said, watching them in action proves that they have absolutely zero limits. This British advertisement for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio is proof positive of that fact.

The word “can’t” isn’t even in their vocabulary.

Okay, I was pumped about all this before, but now I’m losing my mind. These athletes are amazing!

This Pregnant Woman Quickly Pulled Over. What Happened Next Was Amazing.

On May 21, Corinne Cinatl, 29, from Victoria, Australia gave birth to her baby girl Matilda in her car at the side of the road while enroute to the hospital. She and her husband had hoped to make the 35 minute trip, but baby Matilda decided she could not wait that long. Cinatl’s husband, Mishi pulled the car over when her water broke and helped delivered the baby right there in the car. Luckily the couple’s birth photographer had been following them on the way to the hospital and captured the whole thing.

Cinatl said she had been having pain in her ribs for two weeks prior. So she thought nothing of it when she woke up around 3am with the same pain.

When stretching didn’t help and the pain intensified, Cinatl realized she was having contractions. Baby Matilda was on her way.

Cinatl was hesitant to believe she was actually going into labor. “I thought I had more time,” she said.

When her husband saw the contractions were coming faster and about 4 minutes apart, he packed up the car and got ready to leave. He also notified the birth photographer, Breanna Gravener that the baby was coming.

With their three year old son, Charlie, in the car the family only got about 20 minutes into the 35 minute trip to the hospital.

Cinatl’s water broke and she said she could feel the baby’s head between her legs. That was when they pulled off the road to deliver right there in the car.

They didn’t know their birth photographer had gone to their house first and followed them on the way to the hospital “just in case something happened.”

Luckily for the Cinatl’s she was there to capture the unique miracle of baby Matilda’s birth.

After the birth they called an ambulance, and both mommy and baby were so healthy they were discharged from the hospital six hours later.

That’s one proud mother.

Here’s A Simple Trick That You Can Use To Make The World’s Coolest Cake

It’s no secret that cake is a gift to the universe, but we all know that some frosting-covered confections are a cut above the rest. If you’ve turned on your TV at any point over the last decade or so, you’ve probably seen incredible cakes that double as art pieces. See? That wasn’t so hard. It might not get you your own Food Network show, but it will certainly leave an impression on your guests!

Grandpa Stays In Touch With His Faraway Grandkids Through Instagram Art

When people live in a different state (or country) than their family, the best ways to stay connected are usually by phone or email.

However, one man in Brazil does it a bit differently when it comes to his grandchildren. When Ji Lee saw that his 75-year-old father, Chan Jae Lee, seemed lonely and withdrawn, he came up with a great way to keep him in contact with his grandchildren, who live in New York and Korea. Ji knew that his dad loved drawing, so he convinced him to draw and paint something every day for the kids to see, and Chan’s wife could then upload the pictures to Instagram.

He wasn’t happy about it at first, but after traveling to New York to meet Ji’s newborn son, Astro, he realized he could leave them a legacy that would last forever. “I explained the reasons he should do it: drawing for his three grandchildren — and he saw a very specific purpose. It’s not just drawing for drawing’s sake, it’s not just sharing for sharing’s sake. It’s for his grandchildren,” Ji told Today.

Though they can’t be with him and see it for themselves, he can share the view from his living room.

When They Built This For Their Son, They Redefined The Words ‘Awesome Parents’

If you are a fan of searching the internet for cool DIY ideas, then chances are you’ve seen some pretty amazing things that parents have made for their little ones.

But Redditor Missilluzion and her husband really outdid themselves when they spent a year building an adorable playhouse for their three-year-old son. If your kids love castles, you’ll definitely want to check this out.

They used two-by-fours to build the castle’s frame.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); });

Then they added particleboard for the walls, cutting out the windows and turrets with a circular saw. The second floor needed to be sturdy, so they reinforced it with heavier boards.

Stick-on tiles gave a nice texture to the outside.

The dedicated parents even painted and stained the inside, even though I’m pretty sure the little guy would’ve been cool with a more rustic look.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’); });

Then they built a wrap-around staircase for easy access to the second floor.

No kid’s castle is complete without a slide.

The fabric trim and dark stain on the slide brought a surprising amount of sophistication to the playhouse.

Nobody likes stubbed toes or splinters, so Mom cut up a cheap rug and stapled pieces to the stairs.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI2_BTF’); });

The last step was to personalize it with handmade curtains and their family crests. It looks amazing!

The top floor is so cozy for reading.

And not only is the inside of the bottom floor gorgeous, but it also has a mounted iPad that the little prince can use to watch Netflix.

If you’re as jealous as I am and want to give the project a go, you can find the full details in this post. I want my own castle so badly.

She Weighed Just Half A Pound When They Found Her…But These Vets Saved Her Life

There’s a reason that puppies aren’t fully weaned from their mother until they’re between seven and eight weeks old. In addition to the emotional support, they need mom’s nutritious milk and warmth to help them survive. Unfortunately though, stray dogs and orphaned pups often find themselves without a mom, making their odds of survival incredibly slim.

That’s just what happened to Lily when she was brought in to the San Jose Animal Care Center.

A Good Samaritan found Lily alone and barely alive. They spent two days trying to help her recover by feeding her milk…

But when Lily’s condition worsened, they brought her into the San Jose Animal Care Center.

Vet clinic staffers weren’t sure the tiny puppy — who weighed just 0.5 pounds — would survive 30 minutes, let alone the next few days.

While they looked for a rescue to take her in, they got to work. They gave her fluids through a catheter, provided heat support, and began feeding her through a syringe.

Naturally, she was exhausted.

Watch as a veterinarian feeds the tiny tyke.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Sometimes we drop everything and do amazing things to save lives.Today a dying puppy (weighing 0.5 lbs.) came in to the shelter. She had low blood sugar levels, was hypothermic and dehydrated. She was barely responsive. Fortunately, our shelter’s amazing veterinary team pulled together an amazing effort to bring this girl back to life! We placed a catheter into her femur so that we could give her life-saving fluids and sugars. With that along with heat support, we got her eating from syringes and feeling so much better!The best news is that she has been rescued thanks to Fred’s Friends and has a veterinary nurse fostering her to ensure she continues to recover!FULL STORY: http://www.tailsofasheltervet.com/2016/03/06/two-days-after-found-in-park-tiny-dying-puppy-brought-to-shelter/

Posted by Tails of a Shelter Vet on Tuesday, March 1, 2016

After a few hours, Lily was in much better shape. The clinic had also found a veterinarian nurse who would foster her!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Tiny Lily is doing SO much better! She is eating on her own and loves to give kisses.

Posted by Fred’s Friends on Thursday, March 3, 2016

Now, just over two weeks after the pup came in off death’s doorstep, Lily is playful and gaining her strength!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Yep that's little Lily. She is doing so well now and has recovered! Isn't she adorable???

Posted by Fred's Friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Dr. Ostermann noted in her blog post about Lily that while the person who found her only had the best of intentions, it’s important to be sure the mom isn’t coming back — and only then should you bring the animal in to the professionals:

“Sometimes good intentions can be more harmful than you would expect. Many people who find kittens or puppies assume that they are orphaned instead of waiting to see whether their mother comes back to them. The babies will do best in their mother’s care, so removing them from their environment before you are sure their mother is not coming back could hinder their chances of surviving. If you are convinced that mother is not returning to her babies and you are not well-versed in caring for orphaned kittens or puppies, please take them to your local veterinarian immediately for guidance.

We’re just glad this story ended with a happy result. Best of luck, Lily!

She Loved Her Forever Home, But What Happened Will Break Your Heart In Two

Mighty Mutts in Toronto, Canada, provides training for dogs looking to join the canine work force or rehabilitate bad behavior. They also board rescue pups, most saved from death row at other shelters, but the facility has limited space.

This sweet girl named Lana was brought in about a year ago when she was just 10 weeks old. The rough life that led to her ending up in their care made her a bit skittish when meeting new people, but once she warmed up to someone she was content to follow them around anywhere.

They posted these photos of the cutie, hoping to attract a forever home adoption.

Because of her nerves, they wanted to find a home without any small children.

Finally, the happy day arrived when a family came to bring her into their home. They had children, but they hoped over time that Lana would be able to adjust.

Sadly, that never happened. After a year of trying to give her a happy life, the family and folks at Mighty Mutts agreed it would be better for Lana to return to the shelter and find an adults-only home.

Unfortunately, this took a depressing toll on the pup, as can be clearly seen in this heartbreaking photo of her taken a few days ago.

All of Lana’s old fears and anxieties returned in full force. She is so reluctant to leave her cage, only doing so when two specific people are there to coax her out. The crew is working on solving her resurfaced guarding issues and nervousness while they pray for a foster or forever home for the poor girl.

“When she is with people she knows and trusts,” they explain on Facebook, “she is a silly and sweet [girl]. Lana is great left alone, good with other animals (cats/dogs), however, she will exhibit guarding behaviours around food with other animals. She LOVES to go hiking and is […] very good on leash. She also likes car rides…well, she will still fall asleep almost as soon as the car begins to move, just like when she was a tiny pup.”

You can help her find the urgent home she so desperately deserves by sharing her story and donating to the Mighty Mutts to help fund her boarding. Hopefully she won’t be spending too much more time in her sad condition.

What This Dad Discovered Late One Night Is Every Parent’s Worst Nightmare

If you have a child, you need to see what happened to this girl and her father.

Back in 2015, a dad by the name of Tim LeBlanc was walking by his 12-year-old daughter’s room at 2 a.m. when he noticed something strange. Not only was she not there, but her window was cracked. Racing to get his older son, the two began searching the neighborhood.

That’s when he watched his little girl step into a car with an older man. The man in question had contacted LeBlanc’s daughter on social media a few weeks prior by posing as a 15-year-old boy. The brave father took down the predator, who turned out to be 27 years old.

Luckily for LeBlanc’s daughter, he wasted no time going into hero mode!

“I don’t think she would’ve ever come home alive,” the terrified dad explained to a local news station. This story just goes to show you that social media can be a very dangerous thing, even if you’re the most protective parent in the world. Create an open dialogue with your kids to discuss the potential risks of posting personal information online!
